Why do we focus on our flaws so much?

Today, I accidentally woke up early. Now that I think about it, I remember having a terrible nightmare about a rapid shooting happening in my old high school cafeteria. This kind of dream is out of the ordinary for me. My employer has been “training” us how to survive a workplace shooting so I suppose this is why I dreamt about it.

Anyhoo, I normally wake up to my screaming alarm around 630AM but today is was 530AM. I checked my Facebook for new notifications and I guess my boyfriend noticed I was active so he sent me a good morning love message. Aren’t those the best? ♥️

I got out of bed and started to get ready for work. I was taking my time not only because of the extra time I had, but also because of how easy I am and the fact that I don’t need much time at all. Mind you, I wear makeup and I don’t plan my outfits so typically this takes time.

I looked at myself in the mirror and said: you are looking stunning today. I realized that I’m not usually kind to myself most days. I’m way too busy picking my flaws but never give an extra thought to acknowledge my beauty.

Until today.

To be beautiful means to be yourself. You don’t need to be accepted by others. You need to accept yourself.

Thich Nhat Hanh

Here are a few things I LOVE about myself:

  • I love my natural curly hair. My hair does not need any styling tools to look fabulous. Some days I don’t even need a brush.
  • My skin is clear, and baby bottom smooth.
  • I can do my makeup perfectly (to my standards) in under 10 minutes.
  • My eye lashes are naturally long.
  • Although I have gained some weight, I actually love my curves a LOT!

What does your list look like?

We focus so much on our flaws because we neglect our beauty. Never forget to love yourself, and NEVER be your own worst enemy.

  1. Hello Blue!! I adore this post and the love you have for yourself. It’s beautiful!! Thank you for the inspiration. I know how good it feels to get those texts in the morning. They are the best! It’s the little things in life, you know? I also have naturally curly hair, so I feel you there. It took me long time to appreciate it and be grateful for it.
